"The laughing kookaburra is named for its distinctive call; it alternates between a lower 'koo-koo-koo' call to a 'kaa-kaa-kaa', which makes it sound like it's laughing maniacally—or like a troop of chattering monkeys. Its "laugh" is thought to be a territorial warning to other birds."
